STRETCH FILMS

MACHINE

OVERVIEW
Machine stretch film is a high-performance polyethylene stretch wrap designed to be applied with an automated or semi-automated stretch wrapping machine. It’s engineered with superior stretchability, puncture resistance, and load-holding force compared to hand wrap, making it ideal for high-volume operations or businesses that need consistent, secure pallet loads.

BENEFITS
Machine stretch film can dramatically improve pallet stability, lower film usage, and reduce labor costs. Because machines can stretch the film far more efficiently (often 250–300% pre-stretch or higher) than a person can by hand, you get tighter, cleaner loads while using less material. This helps prevent load shifting, product damage, and returns—especially for heavy, irregular, or tall pallets. Compared to shrink hooding or stretch hooding, machine stretch film is more affordable, easier to integrate into existing workflows, and highly flexible for different load sizes.

PROCESS
The process is simple: the pallet is placed on the turntable or conveyor, the film is automatically applied and stretched to a programmed tension, then wrapped and sealed. Depending on the machine type (turntable, rotary arm, or ring wrapper), speeds and capabilities vary, but all deliver consistent, efficient, and secure pallet wrapping.

OVERVIEW
Hand stretch film is a flexible, user-friendly polyethylene stretch wrap designed to be applied manually, making it ideal for smaller operations, low-volume shipping, or situations where pallet sizes vary too much for automation. It’s lightweight, easy to control, and doesn’t require machinery—just a dispenser.

BENEFITS
Hand stretch film offers a low-cost, highly adaptable way to stabilize and protect pallets or bundles. It clings tightly to itself, securing products against shifting, dust, and moisture. Many hand films include high stretch capabilities and better puncture resistance, helping users create tight, secure loads with minimal effort. Compared to alternatives like tape, strapping, or shrink film, hand stretch film is faster, safer, and more forgiving for everyday palletizing needs.

PROCESS
The process generally involves users walking the film around the load, stretching it slightly by hand or using a tension-adjustable dispenser to apply consistent pressure. The film sticks to itself, eliminating the need for adhesives or heat.

OVERVIEW
Vented stretch film is a specialty stretch wrap designed with die-cut holes, slits, or mesh-style openings that allow air to circulate through the pallet load while still providing strong load containment. It’s perfect for products that need to breathe, cool, cure, or release moisture during storage or transport. Unlike standard stretch film, vented film prevents condensation, heat buildup, and mold growth—problems that can occur with tightly wrapped pallets of warm or moisture-sensitive items.

BENEFITS
Vented stretch film can reduce spoilage, speed up cooling, and improve product quality while still stabilizing pallets effectively. It’s commonly used for produce, agricultural goods, baked goods, beverages fresh off the line, pharmaceuticals, firewood, and any product that needs air circulation. Compared to shrink bundling or fully enclosed wraps, vented stretch film offers better temperature control and faster product cooling, especially in cold chain or post-production environments.

PROCESS
The process is the same as standard stretch wrapping and can be applied by hand or machine, depending on the style. Machine-grade versions work on most standard stretch wrappers and still provide strong load-holding force despite the vents.

OVERVIEW
Stretch film for mattresses is a heavy-duty, flexible polyethylene wrap specifically designed to protect mattresses during storage, handling, and shipping. Unlike standard pallet stretch film, mattress stretch film is typically wider, thicker, and stronger to accommodate the large size, irregular shape, and soft surface of mattresses without tearing or puncturing. It provides a secure barrier against dust, dirt, moisture, and minor abrasions, helping ensure that mattresses arrive at customers in pristine condition.

BENEFITS
Using stretch film for mattresses can reduce product damage, minimize returns, and streamline logistics, especially in high-volume mattress manufacturing, distribution, or e-commerce operations. It is often used in combination with compression packaging to reduce mattress size for shipping, allowing for more efficient palletization and lower freight costs. Compared to shrink wrap or single-wound sheeting, stretch film is faster to apply, clings tightly without adhesives, and conforms to the mattress contours, providing both protection and stability.

PROCESS
The process involves placing the mattress on a flat surface or turntable, anchoring the film, and manually or mechanically wrapping it around the mattress. For compressed mattresses, stretch film is applied over the rolled or folded product to secure it during transport. Some operations also use machine stretch wrappers for large-scale production, improving consistency and speed.
